Tho Ha Ancient Village – A traditional Vietnamese village space by the Cau River. Located in Bac Ninh, Tho Ha Ancient Village preserves traditional Vietnamese architecture, ceramic heritage, and a complex of communal houses, pagodas, and ancestral shrines, all of which are rich in cinematic value. Tho Ha Ancient Village is situated on the northern bank of the Cau River, currently part of Tho Ha residential group, Van Ha ward, Bac Ninh province. The village space embodies the characteristics of a traditional Northern Vietnamese delta village, featuring a network of narrow alleys, brick walls, village gates, and traditional architectural structures. The outstanding value of Tho Ha is reflected in its craft village history and its system of monuments. The Tho Ha communal house, pagoda, and shrine complex was designated a Special National Monument in 2026; these structures preserve significant architectural, artistic, and historical values, as well as artifacts dating back several centuries. Notably, the Tho Ha communal house preserves a national treasure—the 'cua vong' (ornamental wooden screen)—along with many artifacts associated with local cultural history. Regarding film production, the ancient village's spatial structure, traditional architecture, remnants of the craft village, and riverside landscape provide ideal conditions for recreating Northern Vietnamese village life and historical-cultural settings. The location is suitable for historical films, dramas, cultural films, and works depicting traditional rural life, provided the script requirements align. Special Hazards
Filming angles within the Tho Ha communal house and pagodas require strict adherence to dress codes and respect for sacred spaces.
The village is located on a small peninsula, primarily accessible by ferry, making the transport of bulky filming equipment (flycams, cranes, Dolly tracks) challenging and posing a risk of equipment falling into the water.
