Vung Tau Lighthouse: A Historic Maritime Cinematic Backdrop Located atop Nui Nho (Small Mountain), the Vung Tau Lighthouse is intrinsically linked to the maritime history and urban development of Vietnam since the second half of the 19th century. The structure is currently part of the national maritime safety infrastructure and has been preserved in its original form and landscape. Originally built by the French in 1862, the lighthouse was reinforced and upgraded at an altitude of 170m in 1913. The 18m-tall white cylindrical tower connects to the operator's quarters via a reinforced tunnel, showcasing classic Western maritime design. The steel spiral staircase, the tower interior, the observation balcony, and the glass dome of the beacon create multi-layered spaces and unique camera angles. The cinematic appeal lies in its classic Western architecture, the steel spiral staircase, and the panoramic view of the East Sea and Vung Tau city. The elevation and surrounding rocky slopes provide significant advantages for wide shots, capturing the interplay of light at sunrise and sunset with excellent natural contrast. With its iconic aesthetic and timeless romantic atmosphere, the Vung Tau Lighthouse is an ideal setting for 19th-20th century historical dramas, romantic films, inspirational art projects, and cultural documentaries.
