Dong Phuc Pagoda - A Buddhist landmark along the historic Bach Dang River. Dong Phuc Pagoda, also known as Dong Phuc Thien Tu, is located in Quang Yen Ward, Quang Ninh Province, on the left bank of the Bach Dang River estuary. The pagoda was established in the late 11th century during the Ly Dynasty and later became a center for spreading the teachings of the Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen sect. The pagoda is also associated with the historic Bach Dang victory of 1288; legend has it that General Hung Dao Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan and his commanders visited the pagoda to pray for the nation's peace and prosperity before the battle. The pagoda features traditional architecture with a seven-bay front hall and a three-bay sanctuary. The structure utilizes ironwood and bluestone, highlighted by a system of columns, trusses, and exquisite carvings. The spacious grounds, filled with greenery and an ancient persimmon tree linked to the pagoda's history, create an atmosphere that is both majestic and serene. Its location near the Bach Dang River and the rural landscape of Quang Yen provides diverse visual layers for filming. From the pagoda grounds, production crews can capture angles of the gate, the main hall, the wooden column system, the courtyard, the ancient tree, and the riverside rural scenery. The ancient architectural space combined with the historical significance of Bach Dang is suitable for historical dramas, period films, documentaries, cultural/spiritual films, music videos, or any scenes requiring an ancient pagoda setting and the traditional atmosphere of Northern Vietnam.
