Mua Roi Waterfall - A Mountainous Wonderland in Thai Nguyen Mua Roi Waterfall, also known as Nam Rut Waterfall (in the Tay language), is located in Kim Son Hamlet, Than Sa Commune, Thai Nguyen Province, approximately 30km from Thai Nguyen city center. The waterfall is situated right along the road leading to the Than Sa Archaeological Site—a location where scientists discovered traces of prehistoric human habitation dating back about 30,000 years, marking one of the most significant archaeological findings in Southeast Asia. The waterfall cascades from the limestone mountain peak down to the Than Sa River, exhibiting two distinct seasonal characteristics: during the rainy season, the water flows powerfully, creating a white mist that blankets the base of the falls; in the dry season, it becomes gentle, with thin streams of water trickling through moss-covered cliffs. The surrounding area features rolling hills and wild, dense forests. Approximately 700m from the waterfall lies a Hmong village that preserves its traditional indigenous lifestyle. With its seasonally changing landscape and proximity to a verified prehistoric archaeological site, this location is ideal for nature and ecological films, archaeological and prehistoric documentaries, and scenes requiring pristine, wild mountain settings with minimal traces of modern human development.
