Tran Thanh, Victor Vu, and Duong Minh Chien to face off this Tet holiday

The Tet film race is heating up with the entry of 'hundred-billion-dong' directors Tran Thanh, Victor Vu, and Duong Minh Chien.

As of August 13, three directors have confirmed their films for the Tet release window: Tran Thanh (with 'Em'), Victor Vu ('Detective Kien 2'), and Duong Minh Chien ('Turbulent Times: Heroic Spirit').
Among them, 'Detective Kien 2' is being developed by Victor Vu following the success of 'Detective Kien: The Headless Case', which was one of the top-grossing films of 2025. Instead of the originally scheduled 2026 release, the film's decision to premiere during the Tet holiday came as a surprise to many.
Duong Minh Chien also enjoyed a successful 2025 with his debut film 'Searching for Long Dien Huong', which grossed 204 billion VND and won the Best Director award at the 2026 Da Nang Asian Film Festival. His return is therefore highly anticipated by audiences.
Among the three directors, Tran Thanh is the least surprising, as his personal 'slogan' is 'a Tet film every year.' Like clockwork, audiences can expect to see Tran Thanh in theaters.
