Chau Son Ward, Ninh Binh Province
About this location
So Kien Basilica - Ancient Gothic Architecture So Kien Basilica, also known as Ke So Church, is located in Chau Son Ward, Ninh Bình Province. Construction began in 1877 under the direction of Bishop Puginier and was completed in the late 19th century. In 2010, the Holy See elevated the church to the rank of Minor Basilica, making it one of the most historically significant Catholic structures in Northern Vietnam. The structure features Western Gothic architectural style combined with traditional Vietnamese decorative art. The church stands out for its red brick structure, bell tower system, stained glass windows, colonnades, and gilded red-lacquered wooden interior. The architectural space possesses distinct height and depth, providing favorable conditions for capturing panoramic shots, symmetrical compositions, and decorative details. This setting is suitable for historical films, cinematic works themed around Catholicism, and productions exploring Vietnamese religious life in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Additionally, the structure holds value for architectural, cultural, and missionary history documentaries. Filming requires careful consideration of the compatibility between the script's content and the sacred nature of the worship space. Compiled information source: PTIT Photo source: PTIT
