About this location

Xich Dang Temple of Literature - A Scholely Heritage Backdrop in Pho Hien Located in Xich Dang village, Son Nam ward, Hung Yen province, the Xich Dang Temple of Literature is one of the most prominent relics within the Pho Hien Special National Monumnet Complex. Originally built around 1701 during the Later Le dynasty and extensively restored in 1839 under the Nguyen dynasty, this provincial temple of literature once hosted regional imperial examinations (Thi Huong) and honored scholars of the former Son Nam region. It was recognized as a National Historical Monument by the Ministry of Culture and Information in 1992. The architectural complex bears the distinct imprint of the Nguyen dynasty, featuring a two-story, eight-roof Tam Quan (Three-Gate) entrance, a Bell Tower, a Drum Tower, twin corridors (Ta Vu - Huu Vu), and a majestic main ceremonial hall (Bai Duong). The most valuable historical highlight is the collection of 9 ancient stelae inscribed with the names of scholars from the former Son Nam region. The front facade faces south, receiving abundant natural light. Combined with moss-covered wooden corridors and a vast brick courtyard, it is highly convenient for setting up cameras to recreate scholarly examination scenes, traditional school settings, folk cultural activities, or historical sequences. Situated right in the center of Hung Yen city, the Xich Dang Temple of Literature is the perfect setting for historical dramas, TV series, documentaries, music videos, or commercials imbued with traditional spirit. Its convenient location, along with nearby transportation and accommodation infrastructure, helps film crews optimize logistics and travel. Content compiled by: PTIT Photo source: PTIT
