About this location
Tràng An Scenic Landscape Complex - World Heritage Tràng An is located in Ninh Bình Province, in the Northern Delta region of Vietnam. It was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2014, with a core zone of 6,226 hectares and a buffer zone of 6,026 hectares. The complex encompasses areas associated with the Hoa Lư Ancient Capital, the Tràng An - Tam Cốc - Bích Động scenic area, and the Hoa Lư special-use forest, creating a heritage space that blends natural landscapes with cultural and historical values. Tràng An is distinguished by its tower-karst limestone topography, flooded valleys, a network of water-cave systems, and archaeological traces reflecting human habitation over 30,000 years. The interweaving of limestone mountains, water surfaces, caves, natural forests, and ancient architectural works creates a distinctive spatial depth. Cinematically, this terrain accommodates a wide range of scales, from expansive natural panoramas and low-angle shots between mountain cliffs to dynamic tracking shots along waterways. With these characteristics, Tràng An is well-suited as a filming location for historical dramas, period pieces, adventure, and fantasy films. The natural environment also holds value for documentaries focusing on geology, archaeology, culture, and heritage conservation. The selection of filming areas should be based on the script and the regulations of the heritage management authority. Summary of information compiled by: PTIT Photo source: PTIT
