Ton Thanh Pagoda – A Historic Southern Buddhist Sanctuary Ton Thanh Pagoda is a historic temple over 200 years old and a National Heritage site associated with the poet Nguyen Dinh Chieu, making it an ideal filming location for historical and Southern Vietnamese cultural productions. Ton Thanh Pagoda is one of the most representative ancient temples in the current Tay Ninh region. It was established in 1808 under the original name Lan Nha Pagoda by Zen Master Vien Ngo. In 1841, it was renamed Ton Thanh, a name it has retained to this day. The pagoda was designated a National Historical Site in 1997 under Decision No. 2890-VH/QD dated November 27, 1997. Notably, Ton Thanh is deeply linked to the life and work of the patriotic poet Nguyen Dinh Chieu, imbuing the site with significant historical, literary, Buddhist, and Southern cultural value. The Tay Ninh Tourism Portal currently identifies Ton Thanh Pagoda as a cultural and spiritual landmark of the lower Vam Co River region. Visually, the site is distinguished by its ancient temple architecture, garden spaces, mature trees, and tranquil atmosphere, making it well-suited for recreating the ambiance of old Southern Vietnam.
