Tay Hoa Lu Ward, Ninh Binh Province
About this location
Thung Ui - A cultural and spiritual space among the limestone mountains of Ninh Binh Thung Ui is located in Tay Hoa Lu Ward, Ninh Binh Province, within the core zone of the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex - a UNESCO World Heritage site of cultural and natural significance. Spanning approximately 270 hectares, the site features a closed valley terrain surrounded by towering limestone mountain ranges and natural lake systems, creating the signature scenic landscape of the ancient capital of Hoa Lu. The highlight of Thung Ui is its complex of cultural and spiritual structures, including Kinh Thien Altar, Kinh Thien Pavilion, Kinh Dia Pavilion, and Kinh Nhan Pavilion. Built upon the traditional Eastern concept of the Three Powers (Heaven, Earth, and Humanity), the space harmonizes traditional architecture with mountain and water landscapes. The location is also historically associated with King Dinh Tien Hoang and the ancient land of Hoa Lu. With its limestone landscapes, lakes, and traditional architectural styling, Thung Ui is ideal as a backdrop for historical films, period dramas, cultural documentaries, travel films, and projects exploring spiritual or national historical themes. Film crews must coordinate with the management unit to apply for filming permits and ensure that the landscape and structures within the heritage site are not affected.
