Truc Lam Phuong Nam Zen Monastery – Buddhist Architecture in Can Tho Located on My Nhon Street, An Binh Ward, Can Tho City, Truc Lam Phuong Nam Zen Monastery is situated within the area associated with the Lo Vong Cung historical site. Construction began on July 16, 2013, and the monastery was inaugurated on May 17, 2014. Spanning nearly 4 hectares, it is built in the architectural style of the Ly and Tran dynasties. The monastery complex includes the Main Hall, the Ancestral House, the Bell Tower, the Drum Tower, and various landscaped areas. The Main Hall features an eight-directional roof system in the Tran dynasty style, while the Ancestral House features a four-directional roof in the Ly dynasty style. The primary structures are built from wood and complemented by stone statues of the Eighteen Arhats leading to the Main Hall. This creates a symmetrical, layered architectural space with numerous details suitable for wide, medium, and close-up shots. With its distinct Buddhist architecture and serene atmosphere, this location is ideal for feature films, documentaries, and works exploring religious life, traditional culture, and spiritual spaces.
