Thi Tuong Lagoon, Ca Mau – An inland sea amidst the river delta. Located approximately 40 km from the center of Ca Mau city, Thi Tuong Lagoon is the largest natural lagoon in the Mekong Delta, covering a vast water surface area of 700 hectares spanning across three districts. Known as the "inland sea of the delta," the lagoon consists of three sections—the Inner, Middle, and Outer Lagoons—stretching over 10 km in a winding, expansive landscape. The cinematic backdrop here is filled with the raw, poetic, and lyrical essence of the Southern Vietnamese waterways. On the vast, mirror-like surface of the lagoon, simple stilt houses and small thatched huts built on towering bamboo poles stand out, used by fishermen to tend to blood cockles, shrimp, and crabs. The ethereal morning mist catching the red hues of sunrise or the long shadows of sunset fading behind the water coconut groves create magical cinematic color palettes, reminiscent of the liberated, pioneering spirit of the old Six Provinces of Southern Vietnam (Nam Ky Luc Tinh). Suitable as a backdrop for art-house films with deep psychological themes, historical films set in the pioneering era, emotional family dramas set in the river delta, or adventurous road-trip films. Special Hazards
The vast expanse of the lagoon is subject to strong winds, which can easily cause instability, shaking handheld camera equipment and causing loss of control for flycams.
Water depth in the lagoon changes abruptly between deep channels and shallow mudflats, which can easily cause crew transport boats to run aground.
