About this location

Yen Tu Relic Site - The cultural space of Truc Lam Buddhism amidst the mountains of the Northeast The historical relic and scenic landscape site of Yen Tu is located in Quang Ninh province, associated with Buddha Emperor Tran Nhan Tong and the formation of the Truc Lam Zen sect in the 13th century. It features a system of ancient pagodas, hermitages, towers, and characteristic mountain landscapes, creating a heritage space of profound historical, cultural, and spiritual value. In 2025, Yen Tu became part of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac relic and scenic complex inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The architectural value of Yen Tu is expressed through ancient religious structures located along mountain slopes, combined with the natural terrain, forests, and stone pathways. The interplay between heritage architecture and landscape creates multiple spatial layers, suitable for capturing panoramic shots, terrain-following movements, and frames emphasizing architectural depth and ancient atmosphere. With its historical and Buddhist cultural characteristics, Yen Tu is suitable as a setting for historical films, period dramas, heritage documentaries, art films, and works exploring themes of Buddhism, Zen studies, and traditional Vietnamese culture.
