Hon Da Bac – A CM12 landmark amidst the southwestern seas Hon Da Bac is located in Da Bac Commune, approximately 50 km west of Ca Mau City center on the Ca Mau Peninsula. It is a natural island cluster consisting of three prominent rocky mountains rising from the sea: Hon Ong Ngo, Hon Da Bac, and Hon Da Bac Le, surrounded by lush tropical island forest vegetation. This site preserves a glorious historical milestone, serving as the location for the CM12 Counter-Intelligence Plan (from September 1981 to September 1984) – a renowned operation by the Vietnam People's Public Security that defeated a reactionary organization attempting to overthrow the government. Visually, the location is highly valuable due to ancient granite formations of various sizes stacked naturally to create fascinating shapes (the Fairy Courtyard, Fairy Hand rock, Fairy Well, etc.). A winding concrete bridge connecting the mainland to the island, the CM12 Victory Monument, and the exhibition house for historical documents provide spatial depth that is both modern and ruggedly pristine. In particular, the sunset casting shadows over the wild sea rocks offers frames rich in contrast and powerful cinematic color palettes. Suitable as a backdrop for historical films, political dramas, action-thriller films recreating the 1980s, coastal period dramas, or artistic documentaries. Information compiled by: PTIT.
