Hon Khoai – A historical landmark amidst the southern seas. Standing solitary and majestic in the sea southeast of Ca Mau Cape, Hon Khoai serves as a frontline outpost guarding the nation's airspace, located in Dat Mui Commune, 14.6 km from the mainland. This is the most spectacular rocky island in Southern Vietnam, covering an area of 4 km² with its highest peak reaching 318 meters above sea level. The terrain is rugged and pristine, featuring scattered boulders along the fine sands of Bai Lon (Big Beach) and the calm waters of Bai Nho (Small Beach). A brilliant cinematic highlight is the ancient lighthouse, built by the French in 1920. Standing 12.5 meters tall, this square stone and concrete structure remains intact, retaining its mossy, colonial architectural charm. The island marks the heroic Hon Khoai Uprising on December 13, 1940, led by teacher Phan Ngoc Hien. In spring, the island is a vibrant tapestry of color, with yellow apricot blossoms interspersed with deep red coral tree flowers amidst the wild tropical primary forest, creating magnificent cinematic material. Suitable for epic French-Vietnamese war historical films, wild island adventure action films, and emotional travel dramas set on islands. Information compiled by: PTIT. Photo sources: VNExpress, Thanh Nien Newspaper, Mekong Delta Tourism.

Special Hazards
The 3km path to the peak is steep, winding, and precipitous, making it difficult to transport heavy filming equipment to the lighthouse.
The island is far from the mainland, requiring transport by large sea canoes; during the monsoon season, the seas can be extremely rough.
