Bac Lieu Prince's House – A lavish landmark of the Cochinchina era. Located along the poetic Bac Lieu River, the mansion of the "Bac Lieu Prince," Tran Trinh Huy, is a grand and luxurious historic residence, considered the finest in the Six Provinces of Southern Vietnam during the early 20th century. It was constructed between 1917 and 1919. Designed by a French architect using premium materials imported directly from Paris, the house features a sophisticated blend of Western architecture and Vietnamese sensibilities (a "neo-classical fusion"). The interior displays expensive antiques associated with the legendary, extravagant lifestyle of the "Black Prince," including a 1930 Peugeot vintage car, precious mother-of-pearl inlaid beds, antique record players, and early landline telephones. A cinematic highlight is the winding marble staircase, consisting of three sections with exactly nine steps each, symbolizing eternal longevity. The shimmering light from brilliant golden antique chandeliers casts shadows against the French-style brick walls, creating a unique, regal, and opulent atmosphere. Suitable as a primary location for period films set during the French colonial era, dramas about aristocratic families, historical films set in 20th-century Southern Vietnam, or works inspired by historical anecdotes.
