About this location
Ky Lan Pagoda – Ninh Binh's Buddhist and Historical Filming Location Ky Lan Pagoda, also known as Hang Pagoda (Cave Pagoda), is located inside the Ky Lan mountain cave in Gia Phuong area, Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh province prior to the 2025 administrative reorganization. Situated amidst a limestone mountain landscape, the pagoda is closely tied to local natural scenery and historical heritage sites. Regarding historical significance, Ky Lan Mountain is associated with the legends of Dinh Bo Linh and the Mausoleum of the Dinh Dynasty's Ancestral Origin. During the resistance war against French colonialism, Ky Lan Pagoda served as a command post for the resistance forces of Ninh Binh province and Military Region III. The combination of cave topography, natural terrain, and historical traces provides notable documentary value for filming activities. Featuring cave spaces and a Buddhist cultural backdrop, the location can be considered for historical documentaries, cultural and religious research films, and works reenacting resistance-era life, depending on the current preservation status of the heritage site.
