After 700-billion-dong film, actor Phuong Nam moved to tears by wife's words

In 'Ut Lan 2', Phuong Nam takes on the role of Den - a rugged man with strong ties to the mysteries of the river region. This is the actor's next project following 'Red Rain' - a cinematic project with a box office revenue of over 700 billion VND, which brought his name closer to the public.
Sharing with VietNamNet, Phuong Nam says that one year after 'Red Rain', the biggest change in himself is confidence. After the film, he feels more comfortable entering casting sessions and discussing with directors about working methods as well as what he wants to achieve within a character.
"'Red Rain' helped me step into the light, become more well-known to the audience, and receive trust from directors. Of course, that comes with pressure that perhaps stems from myself. I want to continue working seriously and try harder so as not to let down the trust of those who have given me opportunities and affection," he expressed. With his professional progress, Phuong Nam is happy to have the companionship of his family. Whenever he receives an award or lands a new film, the first people he wants to share his joy with are his wife and children.

According to him, all efforts in work stem from family, from the desire to provide his wife and children with a better life. Phuong Nam always remembers his wife's words: "Succeed quickly so your wife and children suffer less." This was originally just a joke, but the actor views it as motivation to reflect on himself and try harder. "I was moved and choked up by my wife's words. I also thought a lot and knew I had to take action. Usually, I would only do 1 or 2, but now I have to work many times harder so that my wife and children's lives can be better," he confided.
In 'Ut Lan 2', Phuong Nam has many snake-catching scenes. The actor admits he is extremely afraid of these animals but still had to perform the segments directly on film. Although there were experts guiding him on set, the actor still had the incident of being bitten by a snake twice during practice. After the first bite, he tried to stay calm and continue the scene. However, Phuong Nam was bitten a second time. He was given first aid by the crew and quickly taken to the hospital for a check-up. The production team also paused filming for the day to ensure the actor's safety.
'Ut Lan 2' is inspired by the folk beliefs of the Mekong Delta, revolving around the fear of the "River God" (Ha Ba) and mysterious sacrificial rituals. Director Tran Trong Dan and his crew chose U Minh Thuong forest as the main setting - a reclaimed land associated with the history of the Southern people.
The film begins with the story of a strange two-headed snake appearing in a riverside village, followed by a series of mysterious deaths. From there, long-buried secrets are gradually revealed. In addition to lead actor Phuong Nam, the film features a talented cast including artist Kieu Oanh, Meritorious Artist Kim Phuong, Tan Thi, Ngoc Phuoc... The work officially premieres on September 25.
