The historic Autumn of 1945 will be retold in the historical feature film "Declaration of Independence," directed by Meritorious Artist Phi Tien Son. The film marks the return of director Phi Tien Son following the success of "Peach, Pho and Piano" - a work inspired by the 60-day-and-night battle in Hanoi at the end of 1946, which grossed over 21 billion VND and created a "sold-out" fever after the 2024 Tet holiday, becoming a phenomenon for a state-commissioned film.

According to information from the Vietnam Center for Cultural, Sports and Tourism Cinema, the film "Declaration of Independence" will recreate the moment President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square on September 2, 1945, marking the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, along with many other events that defined the country's transformation during this period. Currently, the project is holding its first round of casting in October 2026.

The film is expected to feature historical figures such as President Ho Chi Minh, General Vo Nguyen Giap, former Emperor Bao Dai, and American intelligence officers from the 1945 period. The actor cast as Uncle Ho should be between 40-60 years old, with a slim build and a height of approximately 1.70m to 1.75m. The actor needs to possess a calm demeanor, sharp eyes, and a brilliant aura, capable of expressing both decisiveness and courage, while remaining approachable and humane.

The production team also emphasizes the ability to transform, requiring readiness to change appearance and weight to suit the role; priority is given to actors with foreign language skills (especially French and English) for dialogue sequences in the film.

For the role of General Vo Nguyen Giap, the production team is focusing on intelligent eyes, a calm and decisive demeanor, and versatile acting ability. The role of Bao Dai requires a tall actor (approximately 1.75m-1.80m) with a dignified presence and strong internal acting skills to recreate the complex emotions of abdication, marking the end of the monarchy.

Another historical figure expected to appear in the film is officer Archimedes L. Patti of the United States Office of Strategic Services (OSS), who arrived in Hanoi in August 1945, met with President Ho Chi Minh, and was present on the historic day of September 2, 1945./.
