According to the website Anime!Anime!, Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan manga now officially has its own anniversary in Japan. Starting September 9, 2026, readers can read the first 99 chapters for free for 99 hours, purchase commemorative merchandise, and watch a livestream featuring the voice actors.
September 9 was chosen as Attack on Titan Day because it is the date the Attack on Titan manga began its serialization in the inaugural issue of Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2009. More than 17 years after its debut, the day the work by Hajime Isayama first appeared has now been officially recognized as an anniversary by the Japan Anniversary Association.
To mark the occasion, a new commemorative visual for Attack on Titan has also been unveiled. The design is inspired by the date 9-9 and the group of 9 special Titans within the series' world. The bottom right corner of the image features the Attack on Titan Day logo, designed based on the Founding Titan.

One of the notable activities is a free manga reading program on Magapoke, Kodansha's official manga reading app. From 12:00 AM on September 9 to 2:59 AM on September 13, the first 99 chapters of Attack on Titan will be available for free for a limited time of 99 hours.
The milestone "99" is used throughout the program, connecting both to the 9-9 anniversary date and the 9 Titans of Attack on Titan. On the evening of September 9, a special livestream will also be held to mark the anniversary. Three voice actors, including Yuki Kaji (Eren Yeager), Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa Ackerman), and Hiro Shimono (Connie Springer), are scheduled to participate.
The program will present information related to Attack on Titan. The specific time and streaming platform have not yet been announced and are expected to be revealed later on the series' official X account.
