"Len Huong," starring Hong Dao, the Korean action blockbuster "Hope," and various horror and family films are set to compete at the box office this September.

The Vietnamese box office features four domestic films spanning the drama, family, comedy, and horror genres. Additionally, a variety of international films will diversify theater offerings, most notably the Korean blockbuster Hope and the Chinese animated film The Eight Immortals: Searching for the Glazed Lamp.
Len Huong

Co-directed by Khuong Ngoc and Tan Hoang Thong, the film features a cast including Hong Dao, People's Artist Hong Van, Meritorious Artist Tuyet Thu, Vo Tan Phat, Ha Anh, Quoc Khanh, and Thieu Lan. The story revolves around Tam (Vo Tan Phat), a duck delivery man, and Mrs. Mui (Hong Dao), who runs a funeral service. While trying to earn extra income, Tam becomes entangled in issues involving money, romance, and family dynamics.
Chrysalis

The film, titled "Chrysalis" in English, is directed by American filmmaker Jordan Schulz. The script follows the turbulent childhood of Daniel, from being abandoned by his mother and living with his grandmother to entering an orphanage, eventually reuniting with his father and moving to the U.S. with his family.
This is a film project Truong Ngoc Anh participated in before she was detained in October 2025 on charges of abuse of trust to appropriate property. The actress plays Lan, Daniel's mother, and also served as a producer. The film was presented at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and was selected to compete at the Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) in July. During its presentation at DANAFF, the character's appearance was modified by the production team using AI, CGI, and ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement).

In addition to Korean stars like Hwang Jung Min, Jung Ho Yeon, and Jo In Sung, the film features Hollywood actors including Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, Taylor Russell, and Cameron Britton.
The Journey to Gyeongju

Directed by Kim Mi Jo, the film follows Ok Sil (Lee Jeong Eun) and her three daughters. The Eight Immortals: Searching for the Glazed Lamp

Directed by Mou Zheng Yang, the film tells the story of eight mortals who, despite lacking magical powers, share a dream of changing their lives. After breaking into Penglai to steal a treasure from the Three Stars, the group is drawn into a conspiracy in the Heavenly Court and must face supernatural forces. From nobodies, they become the ones who hold the fate of the Three Realms in their hands.
After its release in China, the film grossed $112.5 million in two weeks. By the end of August, it reached $235.9 million, selling over 44 million tickets during the summer, ranking as the fourth highest-grossing animated film of all time in that market, following "Deep Sea" and the "Ne Zha" series.
One Night Only

Directed by Joko Anwar, the film revolves around a mysterious prisoner who appears in the most violent prison in Indonesia. This person brings with them a supernatural entity that hunts those carrying negative energy, forcing the prisoners and guards to find ways to survive.
In addition to the films mentioned above, eight other works are scheduled for release in September, currently awaiting filming permits/distribution approval. These include "Heart of the Beast" starring Brad Pitt, the horror film "Resident Evil," a re-release of "Avengers: Endgame," and "Practical Magic 2" starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman.
