According to Variety, the series will premiere simultaneously with the feature film Fast Forever, which hits theaters on March 17, 2028. The long-form television project was first announced in May at NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation, marking a transformation for one of the most successful action-racing franchises in cinematic history after 25 years.

Vin Diesel serves as an executive producer alongside Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Jeff Kirschenbaum, and screenwriter Chris Morgan. The production and writing team for the pilot episode is led by Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman.

Back in May, actor Vin Diesel stated that for the past decade, the team has recognized the audience's desire to expand the storylines of iconic characters. However, he had to wait for the right moment, with Universal Chairwoman Donna Langley directly overseeing the project to ensure the consistency of the character system and the franchise's core message of family. He hopes the brand can expand into four television projects on the Peacock platform.

Prior to this project, Fast & Furious had an animated series titled Fast & Furious: Spy Racers, which aired for six seasons on Netflix between 2019 and 2021. First released on June 22, 2001, the inaugural film starring Vin Diesel and the late Paul Walker sparked a global pop-culture phenomenon centered on the street racing scene in Los Angeles (USA). Over 25 years of development, the series has become one of the highest-grossing action franchises of all time, earning over $7 billion.
