Van Son Pottery Village - The Oldest Craft Village in Binh Dinh - Gia Lai Van Son Pottery Village is located in An Xuan Hamlet, Nhan Thap Village, An Nhon Ward, Gia Lai Province, approximately 20km north of Quy Nhon city center. It is considered the oldest surviving craft village in the former Binh Dinh region, with a history spanning hundreds of years. About 70 years ago, due to the depletion of local clay sources, the production center shifted to its current location, and today, raw clay is sourced from Tay Son District, about 20km away. The village atmosphere is deeply rustic and artisanal: traditional terracotta kilns, pottery wheels where artisans shape their products, and drying yards filled with rows of jars, pots, kettles, and terracotta reliefs basking in the sun—creating a warm, earthy palette and a raw, textured aesthetic that stands in stark contrast to urbanized environments. Currently, about 20 households with nearly 150 workers continue to maintain the craft. With its authentic manual labor environment and intact kiln and pottery wheel architecture, this location is ideal for cultural documentaries, films depicting traditional Vietnamese rural life, and scenes requiring a traditional handicraft setting.
