Cai Bau Pagoda - A Zen monastery overlooking Bai Tu Long Bay. Cai Bau Pagoda, also known as Truc Lam Giac Tam Zen Monastery, is located in the Van Don Special Economic Zone, Quang Ninh Province. Situated on Cai Bau Island, it faces the expansive Bai Tu Long Bay. The site is built on the foundation of Phuc Linh Tu, an ancient pagoda dating back to the Tran Dynasty, associated with the history of the Northeast sea and the naval defense efforts of the Tran army and people. Today, the pagoda serves as a prominent Buddhist and spiritual cultural site in Van Don. The monastery is nestled against the mountains, with its front opening to the vast expanse of Bai Tu Long Bay. The spacious grounds include a three-entrance gate (tam quan), main hall, ancestral house, bell tower, and courtyards. The architecture reflects the Truc Lam Buddhist style, combining tiled roofs and traditional decorative details with the surrounding mountain and coastal landscape, creating multi-layered, visually rich spaces. From the pagoda grounds, production crews can capture angles of the three-entrance gate, main hall, bell tower, courtyards, mountain slopes, forests, and panoramic views of Bai Tu Long Bay. This location is suitable for historical films, period dramas, documentaries, spiritual/cultural films, music videos, tourism commercials, or scenes requiring a Vietnamese pagoda setting amidst the mountainous coastal landscape of the Northeast.
