Mui Vi Rong, also known as Tan Phung Mountain, is a massive rocky headland protruding into the East Sea in Tan Phung 2 Village, My Tho Commune, Binh Dinh Province, approximately 70km north of Quy Nhon city. The giant red rock formation, shaped like a dragon's head reaching out to the ocean, creates a unique and unmistakable landscape icon. According to local folklore, the mountain was once a solid rock formation resembling dragon scales, linked to a legend of an ancient general who 'severed the dragon's scales' to suppress the dragon vein—a folkloric detail that adds narrative depth to the location. Mui Vi Rong has recently been recognized as a provincial-level monument by Binh Dinh Province. The site features three layered landscapes: majestic rocky cliffs at the top, natural caves overlooking the open sea in the middle, and a peaceful sandy beach and Tan Phung fishing village at the base. Waves crashing against the cliffs create white foam, which, combined with the area's lack of urbanization, offers a rare, pristine coastal landscape in the northern Binh Dinh coastal region. With its multi-layered terrain of rocks, sea, and caves, along with its associated folklore, this location is suitable for adventure-fantasy films inspired by legends, wildlife documentaries, and scenes requiring pristine coastal settings free from modern infrastructure.
