Mang Lang Church - An ancient Gothic space by the Ky Lo River Mang Lang Church is located in Mang Lang Village, Tuy An Dong Commune, Dak Lak Province, set within the rural landscape along the lower reaches of the Ky Lo River. Built in 1892, it is one of the oldest Catholic churches in Vietnam. The church grounds create a distinct contrast between the ancient religious structure and the riverside rural scenery. The building features classic Gothic architecture with a symmetrical layout, arched doorways, and two bell towers that create a prominent vertical axis. The church is also historically significant for its connection to the development of the Vietnamese alphabet (Quoc Ngu); the grounds house a space dedicated to preserving and showcasing the book 'Phép giảng tám ngày' (Catechism), printed in Rome in 1651. The layers of architecture, materials, and light filtering through the windows and garden space offer opportunities for deep-focus framing, highlighting the contrast between Western architecture and the Vietnamese rural landscape. This setting is suitable for historical and cultural films, documentaries, psychological dramas, television series, and works exploring themes of religion, community memory, and the history of the written language.
