Con Dao Prison: A Historical War Film Location Located in Con Dao District, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province, the Con Dao Prison relic is intrinsically linked to the turbulent history of Vietnam's revolutionary struggle from 1862 to 1975. The site was designated a Special National Historical Relic under Decision No. 548/QD-TTg dated May 10, 2012. The prison system comprises 12 detention camps and auxiliary facilities, solidly constructed by the French and Americans over various periods. The architecture blends Western military design with isolated cell blocks. Thick brick walls, iron gates, the infamous "Tiger Cages" and "Cow Cages," and patrol corridors create multiple layers of enclosed spaces and distinctive cinematic angles. The site spans an island landscape, featuring moss-covered brick walls, watchtowers, dark prison cells, and ancient Malabar almond trees, creating a stark contrast between the brutal architecture of confinement and the natural environment. With its exceptional historical value and well-preserved heritage architecture, the location is highly suitable for historical dramas, war films, documentaries, and projects recreating 20th-century Vietnam, subject to site management regulations and filming permit requirements.
