Dong Hoi Citadel - A Historic Fortress Relic Dong Hoi Citadel is located in the central area of Dong Hoi Ward, Quang Binh Province. The citadel once served as a vital defensive position for the Dong Hoi region throughout history and is one of the remaining landmarks associated with the fortress system built to protect the Dang Trong (Inner Realm) during the Trinh-Nguyen War. The site was classified as a national-level historical and architectural relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information in 1992. The citadel played a crucial role as a military defensive structure, linked to various historical periods from the Nguyen Dynasty and the Can Vuong movement to later resistance wars. Despite significant destruction during the war, the remaining sections still preserve the fortress structure, including crenellated walls, gates, bridges, and traces of the moat. Situated near the Nhat Le River, the site offers a combination of fortress architecture, water features, and urban landscape, making it suitable for capturing panoramic shots, medium shots, and architectural details. Given its military historical value and architectural remnants, the location is ideal for historical films, war dramas, documentaries, and works exploring historical memory or the development and transformation of Dong Hoi city.
