Me Pia Pass
Xuan Truong Commune, Cao Bang Province
About this location
Me Pia Pass - Majestic 14-tier panoramic landscape in Cao Bang. Me Pia Pass (also known as Khau Coc Cha Pass) is located on National Highway 4A, connecting Xuan Truong commune to the center of Bao Lac district, Cao Bang province. Stretching 2.5 km, the pass cuts horizontally across steep limestone mountains within the core karst terrain of the Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark. Formed from a French-colonial trail and later reinforced, Me Pia Pass makes a strong visual impression with its structure of 14 winding, overlapping tiers. From a cinematography perspective, this is an ideal exterior location for wide drone/flycam shots from the mountaintop, creating striking focal depth and contrast between the gray cliffs and green vegetation. The winding asphalt road layout helps optimize natural light across varying planes, effectively supporting dramatic chase sequences or perilous journey scenes. This pristine landscape fully meets the requirements for an adventurous, highly symbolic cinematic setting for Vietnam's northern mountainous region.
