Con Son Islet - A quintessential Southern Vietnamese riverine orchard landscape. Con Son is an islet located in the middle of the Hau River, in Binh Thuy District, Can Tho City. Covering an area of approximately 70 hectares, it features a network of orchards, agricultural land, and residential areas. Under the city's urban planning, Con Son is designated as a site of significant landscape value and is included in the list of areas slated for provincial-level landscape protection. Con Son embodies the characteristic riverine landscape and Southern orchard lifestyle, defined by the Hau River, lush orchards, internal islet pathways, and the daily production activities of its residents. Since 2014, the local community has developed community-based tourism, creating a space where the natural landscape is intrinsically linked to local life and labor. This provides authentic visual material for recreating rural life in the Southwestern region. With its open landscape, orchard systems, and riverine environment, Con Son is well-suited as a backdrop for psychological dramas, family dramas, documentaries, and reportage, particularly for scenes depicting rural life, agricultural labor, and Southern community activities. The water surface and the islet itself allow for a variety of wide, medium, and specialized shots tailored to specific production requirements. Content compiled by: PTIT. Special Hazards
As Con Son is located in the middle of the river, special attention must be paid to water safety, deep water, and the risk of drowning, especially when filming at ferry terminals, riverbanks, fish rafts, or using boats/sampans as backdrops. Internal islet paths, garden walkways, and riverside areas can be slippery and muddy, especially after rain. When transporting crew and equipment by boat, life jackets must be worn, and the number of passengers and load capacity must be strictly controlled to prevent imbalance. During the rainy season, be aware of heavy rain, thunderstorms, rising water levels, and challenging water transport conditions.
