Cai Nhum Parish Church - Romanesque Architecture in the Mekong Delta Cai Nhum Parish Church is located in Long Thoi, Cho Lach, Ben Tre, under the jurisdiction of the Vinh Long Diocese. The Cai Nhum parish was established in 1731, making it one of the oldest parishes in Southern Vietnam. The current structure is the fifth iteration of the church, rebuilt in 1951 based on the design of the 1886 original. It features Romanesque architecture with a cruciform floor plan. The church boasts a bell tower approximately 33m high, a main hall 50m long and 16m wide, and three bells that are over a century old. From a visual perspective, the structure stands out with its Romanesque massing, bell tower, window systems, and religious decorative details. The campus spans approximately 8,000m² and includes multiple entrances, lush greenery, and auxiliary spaces, providing opportunities for diverse framing—from wide-angle facade shots and architectural medium shots to close-ups of intricate patterns, statues, and interior details. The interior space offers a solemn, nostalgic atmosphere, while the exterior allows for the integration of architecture with the green landscapes of the Cho Lach region. Given its historical, architectural, and long-standing religious significance, Cai Nhum Parish Church is well-suited as a backdrop for historical films, cultural films, documentaries, and psychological dramas. The church space can also be utilized in works exploring Catholic community life, local history, and Southern Vietnamese culture. Information compiled by: PTIT. Photo source: Vietnam Catholic Church.
