About this location

O Quy Ho Pass Location - A spectacular mountain pass route in the Northwest region. Located in Binh Lu Commune, O Quy Ho Pass is one of the longest and most rugged mountain passes in northern Vietnam. Situated at an altitude of over 2,000m above sea level, this area boasts year-round cloud cover, sheer cliffs, and deep valleys. Although the transport infrastructure has been upgraded, it retains its characteristic steep and winding nature, creating a majestic, serene natural space with highly challenging topography. From a cinematography standpoint, O Quy Ho is a high-value setting for aerial wide shots using drones to showcase the spatial scale and the smallness of human figures. Continuous hairpin turns provide strong compositional lines, perfectly suited for high-speed tracking shots on asphalt roads. However, rapidly changing weather conditions with dense fog require the Director of Photography (DOP) to be flexible in exposure control, while the production team needs strict traffic coordination plans when filming action scenes on the pass. This majestic route provides optimal visual material for cinematic projects in the genres of road movies, high-speed action films, adventure films, and geographical/exploratory travel documentaries.
