Binh Thuy Ancient House - A fusion of Eastern and Western architectural heritage in Can Tho cinema. Binh Thuy Ancient House, officially known as the Duong Family Ancestral House, is located on Bui Huu Nghia Street, Binh Thuy Ward, Can Tho City. Built in 1870, this structure is one of the most representative ancient houses still preserved in relatively intact condition in the Mekong Delta. It was recognized as a National Architectural and Artistic Monument in 2009. The house features a five-compartment structure, blending Western architectural characteristics with traditional Eastern culture. The space includes a high foundation, high ceilings, a large door system, intricate decorative details and reliefs, as well as grounds featuring bonsai, orchids, and a rear garden. This East-West intersection and the preservation of its architecture create a valuable setting for scenes depicting Southern Vietnamese life and family spaces during the transitional period. The site has been chosen as a filming location for many works, such as "The Lover" (L'Amant), "The Beauty of Tay Do," and "Alluvial Paths." With its ancient architecture, detailed interior space, and grounds characteristic of Southern Vietnamese garden houses, this location is suitable for historical films, Vietnamese period dramas, family-psychological dramas, television series, and projects recreating Southern Vietnamese life in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, within the scope of monument conservation requirements.
