Xa Ton Pagoda – Over three centuries of Southern Khmer culture. Xa Ton Pagoda is one of the oldest pagodas in An Giang Province, with a history spanning over 300 years. Located in Tri Ton Commune, it was recognized as a National Historical and Architectural Monument in 1986. Originally built in 1696 with simple wooden planks and a thatched roof before being reconstructed with brick, tile, and wooden pillars in 1896, the pagoda is a prime example of Southern Khmer architectural style featuring sugar palm motifs. The pagoda houses an invaluable cultural treasure: the largest collection of ancient palm-leaf manuscripts in Vietnam. The main hall is oriented East-West, featuring a vibrant three-tiered tiled roof with the corners adorned by majestic Naga serpent sculptures. Surrounding the pagoda is a vast, tranquil lotus pond reflecting the shadows of ancient trees and moss-covered stone stupas featuring Bayon-style deity heads. This location is highly suitable for historical period dramas, films focusing on spiritual and religious culture, and artistic films with thematic depth. Information compiled by: PTIT.
