Chikaeng Krom Pagoda – A Cultural Intersection of Khmer Architecture Chikaeng Krom Pagoda (also known as Toul Sophy Pagoda) is located in Ta On Hamlet, Chau Lang Commune, Tri Ton District, An Giang Province. It serves as an ancient and venerable spiritual space for the local Khmer community. The pagoda stands out for its unique cultural fusion developed over generations. In addition to typical Theravada Buddhist architecture, featuring a sturdy three-spire concrete gate and square-based stupas adorned with intricate Khmer reliefs, the pagoda also houses auxiliary structures decorated with four-faced Bayon god statues, Garuda (Krud) figures, and Yeak (giant) guardians. Its cinematic value is particularly enhanced by soft, arched details reminiscent of Cham architecture and nostalgic blue-painted wooden windows that evoke the atmosphere of French colonial-era houses. Suitable for cultural films, ethnographic documentaries, historical dramas recreating the modern Southern Vietnamese landscape, and art-house cinema. Information compiled by: PTIT.
