With $2.32 billion, the blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day has easily surpassed Titanic at the global box office and is closing in on the top 3 highest-grossing films of all time.

According to Comic Book Movie, as of August 28, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, has reached approximately $2.32 billion in global box office revenue. This figure is expected to continue rising in the coming days.
This achievement allows the film to surpass Titanic—one of the most enduring films in cinematic history. First released in 1997, the film has maintained its position among the world's highest-grossing films for nearly three decades thanks to multiple re-releases.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day currently sits just behind Avatar: The Way of Water ($2.33 billion), Avengers: Endgame ($2.79 billion), and Avatar ($2.92 billion). Notably, the gap between it and Avatar: The Way of Water is now only about $10 million.
Previously, Spider-Man: Brand New Day set a series of box office records. The film earned $169 million on its opening day and $360 million during its opening weekend in the domestic U.S. market. It also became the fastest film to reach the $500 million milestone, doing so in just 7 days.

After 5 weeks of release, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still being screened in 3,678 theaters, more than typical films. This figure is a decrease from the 4,006 theaters of the previous weekend, but it still demonstrates the film's strong appeal in the theatrical circuit.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is expected to continue earning approximately $22-27 million in the domestic U.S. market this weekend. That performance could help the film solidify its position on the all-time box office chart.
According to Comic Book, one of the reasons for the success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the scale of connectivity between various branches of the Marvel universe. The film brings together Sony's Spider-Man, Hulk, Jean Grey, Punisher, and Yelena in a single story. The character played by Sadie Sink was also kept secret until the film's release, when it was revealed to be Jean Grey.
Additionally, the presence of Tom Holland and Zendaya is considered an advantage for the film's appeal. Both actors are prominent figures in Hollywood and also appeared together in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey in 2026.
