According to People, after months of auditions and negotiations, Marvel Studios officially introduced the new X-Men lineup at the D23 event. The main cast of X-Men includes Sadie Sink, Kit Connor, Samara Weaving, Christopher Abbott, Inde Navarrette, Maya Boyd, and Adam Driver. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2028.

X-Men is directed by Jake Schreier, the director of Thunderbolts. In the film, Sadie Sink plays Jean Grey, Kit Connor plays Scott Summers/Cyclops, Samara Weaving takes on the role of Emma Frost, Christopher Abbott portrays Charles Xavier (Professor X), Inde Navarrette plays Rogue, and Maya Boyd embodies Storm.

Adam Driver has also been confirmed to join the project. Some sources reveal he is taking on the villainous character Mister Sinister under the name Nathaniel Milbury. This is one of the aliases of Nathaniel Essex/Mister Sinister in the comics.

Sadie Sink is a case that was confirmed prior to D23. Her character, Jean Grey, appeared in Spider-Man: Brand New Day with telepathic abilities. In the original source material, Jean Grey is an Omega-level mutant, possessing telepathic and telekinetic powers. This character is also tied to the Dark Phoenix storyline, one of the most famous X-Men arcs.

With this new version, Sadie Sink becomes the third actress to play an adult Jean Grey on screen. Before her, the character was portrayed by Famke Janssen in Fox's X-Men series and Sophie Turner in the prequel films.
Kit Connor is known for his role as Nick Nelson in Heartstopper. The actor will take on the role of Cyclops, the field leader of the X-Men who has the ability to project energy beams from his eyes.

The new X-Men marks the first time Marvel Studios has produced an X-Men film since Disney completed its acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019. Prior to debuting the new X-Men lineup, Marvel gradually introduced several familiar characters from Fox's X-Men series into the MCU. Patrick Stewart returned as Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, while Kelsey Grammer continued to play Beast in The Marvels.

Deadpool & Wolverine also brought back Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, while exploring characters and events from the era of X-Men produced by Fox.
