On the afternoon of August 25, the premiere of the film "Hộ linh tráng sĩ: Bí ẩn mộ vua Đinh" (The Guardian Warriors: Mystery of King Dinh's Tomb) took place in Ho Chi Minh City. The film features Johnny Tri Nguyen, People's Artist Tu Long, Do Thi Hai Yen, Hua Vi Van, Tuan Tran, Tran Thien Tu, and others.

The historical fantasy film "The Guardian Warriors: Mystery of King Dinh's Tomb" begins with the heroic battle of the 12 Warlords led by Dinh Tien Hoang and follows the journey of seven guardian warriors on the final mission entrusted to them by the late emperor.
They must race against time, confront hostile forces, and transport 99 coffins of the king in seven different directions to deceive enemies plotting to destroy the tomb—a site believed to be the source of the nation's prosperity.
Sharing at the premiere, director Nguyen Phan Quang Binh stated that the production of "The Guardian Warriors" was a multi-year process, with the reconstruction of Dinh Dynasty costumes posing a particularly difficult challenge.
According to him, there is almost no clear visual documentation of the Dinh Dynasty to rely on for accurate reconstruction. The production team had to organize seminars involving historians, production designers, researchers, and authors specializing in Vietnamese history and costumes.
"We cannot claim that what we have done is 100% accurate, because there is truly no painting or image to reference. Even when visiting museums in France, we could not find many artifacts from the Dinh Dynasty," he shared.
The director noted that one of the rare pieces of evidence the team found was a damaged dragon head sculpture from the Dinh era. Consequently, the team had to combine the remaining documentation with historical research to visualize the appearance of a world from approximately 1,000 years ago.

"Precisely because there is not much documentation, it allowed the filmmakers a certain degree of creativity. We wanted to bring the image of our ancestors back in a beautiful way, so that everyone could visualize a world from 1,000 years ago," the director said.
A special feature of "The Guardian Warriors" is its abundance of long, visually stunning action sequences. The person behind these sequences is action director Johnny Tri Nguyen.
Johnny Tri Nguyen stated that this was one of the biggest challenges he has ever undertaken, especially since many scenes were staged in the forest. Notably, an initial sequence that actors and stunt performers had practiced for months had to be changed following an injury to Tuan Tran.
Director Nguyen Phan Quang Binh revealed that the idea to produce the film in IMAX format originated from Johnny Tri Nguyen. According to him, this format forced the team to be more meticulous because flaws are very difficult to hide on the large screen.
"IMAX is very difficult, especially for period films. Any errors can be fully exposed. The production crew had to be twice as careful and invest more in every stage," he shared.
