Cinetour for the 2026 Vietnam Short Film Competition arrives at Da Nang universities

This year's cinetour selected Duy Tan University as the opening venue, featuring an exchange session themed 'One Idea - One Film: Telling Vietnamese Stories for the Big Screen.' This institution has played a significant role in nurturing many young cinematic talents. Students at Duy Tan University benefit from a learning environment that prioritizes practical training, supported by facilities such as the En Bac Film Studio and the Faculty of Applied Arts—which have accompanied numerous projects and young talents on their journey into cinema. In the 2025 Vietnamese season, the film 'The Sweetness That Remains' by a team of Duy Tan University students won the award for Best Screenplay.

The 'One Idea - One Film: Telling Vietnamese Stories for the Big Screen' cinetour is expected to foster an open dialogue and exchange between generations of filmmakers. With their extensive professional experience, directors Nguyen Quang Dung and Le Thien Vien will share insights on evaluating and refining ideas for the big screen, as well as addressing various aspects of the filmmaking process.

Meanwhile, director Thai Bao Long of the film 'The Sweetness That Remains' will offer a unique perspective from the viewpoint of a young filmmaker. His journey and that of his team during the Vietnamese 2025 Short Film Competition, as well as the opportunities that followed, provide valuable practical experience and lessons for emerging filmmakers currently nurturing their first projects.

Ahead of the cinetour in Da Nang, director Thai Bao Long shared: "For this cinetour, it is an honor and a very exciting opportunity for me to accompany two seasoned veterans like Nguyen Quang Dung and Le Thien Vien. While they bring the comprehensive vision of established filmmakers, I hope to act as a companion to the students. Through this trip, I want to share experiences and practical lessons from the perspective of someone who has also just taken their first steps into filmmaking." Furthermore, the filmmaker hopes to help young people better visualize the path ahead, understand what preparations are needed, and most importantly, ensure they do not feel lost or overwhelmed when first pursuing their passion for cinema.
