"Golden Mask" (Mặt nạ hoàng kim) is the final film featuring the late actor Ma Trung before his unexpected passing on August 25, which left his family and fellow artists in deep mourning.

Notably, this is also one of the rare films where Ma Trung took on a role considered quite "gentle," a departure from the many "villainous mastermind" characters he portrayed on screen.
Director Nguyen Duc Nhat Thanh was moved when sharing a photo taken with Ma Trung on set. He wrote: "I never expected this to be the last photo I would take with you on set, and the last film we would work on together."
In the film, he plays Mr. Hoang - the Chairman of a large corporation and a grandfather with significant influence in both the company and the family. Behind his stern exterior, he is a man who deeply loves his children and grandchildren.
With his worldly experience, Mr. Hoang realizes that the family is facing internal conflicts, conspiracies, and silent suspicions that are causing relationships to fracture, leading to losses in both personal connections and career. Facing the risk of his family falling apart, Mr. Hoang seeks ways to mend relationships and resolve the arising troubles.

"Golden Mask" was filmed in June. At that time, Ma Trung always worked with full dedication. Director Nhat Thanh noted that he always maintained an enthusiastic, serious, and energetic spirit.
"On set, actor Ma Trung was always focused on his work, concerned that due to his age, he might not be as agile, flexible, or quick to memorize lines as the younger actors. Therefore, he always prepared thoroughly for his role, never distracted behind the scenes or while on-set. That is a high sense of responsibility, which is truly precious," said Director Nhat Thanh.
"Ma Trung was a talented and dedicated actor. On days when we filmed at distant locations, finishing late at night, he would still work diligently without complaint, then quietly head home at midnight. The next morning, he would still be present early at the filming location."
According to Nhat Thanh, what he particularly appreciated about Ma Trung was his receptive and open-minded professional attitude. The actor often proactively discussed character portrayal with the director and younger co-stars, while always sincerely listening to feedback from the crew. As one of the oldest actors on the team, whenever Ma Trung appeared, he often brought a warm and cheerful atmosphere to everyone.

"Golden Mask" revolves around the secrets, conspiracies, and mental battles behind the glitz and glamour of a wealthy family. The character Phuong Lam (Ngo Phuong Anh) is the gentle, almost submissive daughter-in-law of the Tran family. When pushed to the brink: suffering a miscarriage, being shunned by her husband, and nearly losing her life after a mysterious accident. Just when the perpetrator thinks they have cleared the thorn in their side, a completely different "Phuong Lam" suddenly returns.
Ngo Phuong Anh takes on dual roles as both Phuong Lam and Phuong Hong. Phuong Hong is Phuong Lam's twin sister, possessing a strong personality, a Judo black belt, and a sharp mind, ready to use a false identity to infiltrate the treacherous world of the wealthy family.
In addition to Ma Trung and Ngo Phuong Anh, "Golden Mask" also features Trung Huy, Doan Minh Tai, Lam My Van, Lam Anh, Minh Giang, Chu Anh... airing at 19:30 every Monday to Wednesday, starting from August 31 on HTV7 and at 20:30 on the same days on FPT Play.
