De Gi Bay - A Pristine Coastal Gem De Gi Bay (also known as De Gi Sea, De Gi Estuary, or De Gi Lagoon) is located in De Gi Commune, Binh Dinh Province, approximately 50km north of Quy Nhon city center. This sheltered bay is where the Dam Thuy Lagoon flows into the East Sea via the De Gi Estuary. The name carries the linguistic legacy of the ancient Champa civilization, having once been part of the Vijaya (Cha Ban) capital of the Champa Kingdom before 1471. It is documented in the 'Dai Nam Nhat Thong Chi' (Comprehensive Records of Dai Nam) as a vital maritime gateway for trade vessels. The area features over 2km of fine white sand, crystal-clear waters, and is lined with casuarina trees and coastal breakwaters. The bay preserves an authentic fishing village lifestyle, with small basket boats anchored along the shore and traditional salt pans that were once the largest salt production area in the former Binh Dinh region. The enclosed topography, gentle slopes, and lack of modern infrastructure create a peaceful, untouched landscape, distinct from crowded tourist beaches.
